Buhari’s daughter, Halima, 80-yr-old man among 2,218 called to Bar


An 80-year-old man, Mr. Enebeli Chuka, yesterday, made history as the oldest new lawyer ever produced by the Nigerian Law School. Chuka was among 2,218 candidates, who were successful at the April 2016 Bar Final examinations. He was called to Bar alongside Halima, one of the daughters of President Muhammadu Buhari. Read more atAmong dignitaries that attended the ceremony held at the International Conference Centre, ICC, was President Buhari’s wife, Aisha. Equally admitted into the legal profession by the Nigerian Body of Benchers were 41 candidates from previous Bar Final examinations. The April 2016 examinations that produced the new wigs were undertaken by resit students, who spent additional two months at the Law School. According to the Director-General of the Nigerian Law School, Mr. O. A. Onadeko, the new lawyers were subjected to a compulsory intensive revision exercise. While enjoining the new wigs to adhere strictly to the norms and ethics of the legal profession, the Law School DG said they must ensure they were far above the minimum in all they do. In his address, Chairman of the Body of Benchers, Mr. Bandele Aiku, while congratulating the new lawyers, urged them to always show respect to the court. One of the new wigs, Alaukwu Anosike, said: “I am delighted that not only was I found worthy to be admitted into the Bar, taking the oath alongside President Buhari’s daughter and the 80 years old man that just created a new record, made the ceremony more memorable for me.” Re
